Transcription for "Squatting in a Nissen Hut (this clip is 1.07 minutes long - 2.06MB)"

(Connie, Jean and Maggie are from Deptford, Pam is the session facilitator)

Connie: Yeah but what happened then, we squatted in a Nissan hut

Pam: Really?

Connie: Yeah. Down Church Street. Not Church Street, down, going down that road, you know? I forget all them...

Pam: Broadway?

Jean: Not Brookwell

Connie: Brookmill road

Jean: All along where the park is

Connie: Yeah. So we squatted in there, me and my husband

Pam: Did you really? How long for?

Connie: Not for long because they chucked us out…(laughs) so in the end… In between that I had another little girl, right. So, we went, me and my husband, went down Gifford street and asked for a room.

Pam: From the council was that or…?

Connie: No, no. Its, I think they’re private down there

Maggie: Was it GLC?

Jean: LCC, LCC.

Maggie: LCC or something wasn’t it?

Connie: Anyway, she says: 'aint got no children?', says me: 'no, no, we aint got no children.' So we got in, he said don’t worry he said: 'as long as we get in there she can’t chuck us out', but she did really.
