Description: William Money (17?-96) was Captain of several East Indiamen and later a Director of the East India Company. Like many other Company servants, he was also an Elder Brother of the Corporation of Trinity House, having been elected to the position on 21 April 1785. He lived (at the time of his death) at Crosby Square in Bath and owned property in Carmarthen and Ireland. His life long friend (and business partner) was Robert Wigram whom he met on the 'Admiral Watson' in 1764 on a voyage from London to India. They were such close friends that William named one of his sons Wigram and Robert named one of his sons Money. William's son, William Taylor Money, was also a Director of the Company and an MP.
