| Description: This oil painting by war artist Stephen Bone gives an idea of the relentless movement of supplies to the Normandy beachheads. Courseulles-sur-Mer was part of Juno beach, and saw bloody fighting between Canadian and German troops. DUKWs were amphibious vehicles able to carry up to 2.5 tonnes of supplies. Over 20,000 were built in the United States. |
