| Description: The main streets of Tilbury under water during the February 1953 floods. This view looks towards Tilbury Town Station. In Tilbury, work soon began to deal with dislodged manhole covers, ensuring that no accidents were caused. However, while the manholes were drying out and telephone cables being checked for water damage, the next high tide occurred and re-flooded the area. |
