| Description: The ruined 12th-15th-century walled city of Gedi lies about 100 km north of Mombasa and 15 km south of Malindi. The name Gedi (or Gede) is a Galla name and the true name of the town may be Kilimani. Gedi includes two sets of concentric walls, a palace, seven mosques and many houses and tombs. Much of the Chinese pottery unearthed dates from the 14th and 15th centuries. |
