Description: These are the Shu'i of the Persian Gulf that are used for coastal fishing, pearling and trade. Though smaller then the Sumbuq (or Sambuq), both bear a strong resemblance to the Portuguese caravels of the 16th century. The pilot of one of these Shu'i had sailed to East Africa in the 1960s.
