| Description: Warehouse officials and customs officers carry out a hydrometer test on barrels of spirits at the London Docks. The long pipette which one of the men holds was known as a 'valinch'. The London Docks were at the centre of the alcohol trade. Huge vaults were used to store the barrels and casks of wine and spirits. |
