Description: The 'tuppenny rush' on a Saturday as children flock to see a special programme at the Star Cinema in Abbey Street, Bermondsey. Children supposedly called it the Lardy presumably a contracted form of 'la-di-da', rhyming slang for the star. The cinema seems to be showing 'Aunt Sally'. Like most former music halls, the Star had adapted by showing the new motion pictures.
