| Description: Britain was a major exporter of machinery and vehicles during the first half of the 20th century. This photograph shows a hydroplane being loaded at London Docks for export to Japan. The vessel was built at Thornycroft's Yard at Church Wharf, Chiswick in West London. A hydroplane is a small power boat designed so that the prow and much of the hull lift out of the water and skim the surface at high speeds. |
