Description: Foster's Wharf in the Lower Pool specialised in cereals, flowers, seeds and bulbs. The wharf closed in 1972, and its large warehouse was converted into housing in the 1980s. This photograph, from 1916, shows a paddle steamer on the river. In the foreground sailing barges and lighters are being unloaded.
