| Description: The Union-Castle was a popular line with British tourists and emigrants to South Africa. The line's vessels operated from the East India Dock and the King George V Dock. In 1952 British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) began its first commercial jet passenger service between London and Johannesburg. In response, Union-Castle emphasised the fun aspects associated with travelling to South Africa by ship. |
