Description: John Rennie's London Bridge and the Thames, as seen from the Monument. This photograph was taken around 1901, a year before the bridge was widened. Rennie's bridge, opened in 1831, was finally replaced in 1967-72 when it could no longer cope with modern traffic. The illustration appeared in 'Living London' (1901-02), edited by George R Sims.
