| Description: Geographical details on the sphere show labels for 'Enderby's Ld', 'La Terre Adele' and 'South Victoria' in the south polar region. Enderby Brothers business activities combined whaling and sealing in the South Pacific with sponsoring voyages of discovery. In 1830-1833 two of their vessels 'Tula' and 'Lively' with John Biscoe in overall command circumnavigated the Antarctic continent discovering Enderby Land on 24 February 1831. The ships wintered in Hobart and the following year discovered and named Graham Land in the Antarctic Peninsular. |
