| Description: The East London Hospital for Children was regarded as a worthy cause and received much publicity, including a piece by Charles Dickens, who described it as a 'Small Star in the East'. This tableau in the 'Graphic' depicts several everyday scenes in the hospital. These include: 'The Princess Mary Ward'; 'Applicants for admission'; 'Eggs for breakfast'; 'A convalescent patient'; and 'Folding circulars for the post'. |
