Canadian White Owl
Canadian White Owl .
Part of the Greenwich Borough Museum collection.

In the 19th century, school books were expensive and hard to come by in most schools. Teachers often based their lessons on natural objects or pictures, instead of books. A list of object lessons for Christchurch School (dated 1890 - 91) includes a comparison of an owl and an ostrich.
