The Devonshire Dairy milk cart
Part of the Greenwich Local History Library collection.

In the days before milk bottles, customers brought their own jugs and cans to be filled with milk. The Devonshire Dairy in Royal Hill, Greenwich, may have sold milk brought from Devon by train early every morning. A few local dairies still kept cows in the yards behind their shops.
