WATLING WILLIAM
Born in Greenwich in 1820. A waterman and lighterman. Died in 1850,
aged 30, after an accident at work. He slipped on the edge of a dock
as a barge was mooring. His leg was crushed between the barge and
the dock wall. He died three weeks later of blood poisoning.
