This is how you change adjectives to compare things.

If the adjective is a very short word (one syllable), just add —er to the end.

If a short adjective ends in one short vowel + one consonant, double the consonant before you add —er.

If a short adjective ends in —e, just add —r.

Some longer words (two syllables)
add —er to the end of the word.

Words which end in —y, change the —y to an —i, and add —er.

Other longer words (two syllables) use "more".

All longer words (three syllables or more) always use "more".

A few adjectives are different. They change in different ways when they compare.
